Car Rental Insurance – What’s Included and What to Know

At ViaMon Rent a Car, your safety and peace of mind come first. That’s why every rental includes mandatory Third Party Liability Insurance and Full Insurance “Autocasco” (most commonly known as Collision Damage Waiver – CDW), both already included in the base rental price you see when booking.

What’s Included with Standard Insurance?

Every ViaMon rental vehicle comes with:

  • Full “Autocasco” (or CDW)
  • Third Party Liability Insurance
  • Coverage for Theft, Fire & Natural Disasters
  • Accident damage coverage (if a police report is provided)

Important: For any accident or damage, you must contact local traffic police and obtain an official accident report in order for the insurance to be valid.

What’s NOT Covered by the Standard Insurance?

  • ❌ Damage to tires, rims, or the underbody
  • ❌ Any damage without a police report
  • ❌ Interior damage (seats, dashboard, etc.)
  • ❌ Lost or damaged keys, documents, GPS, child seats, or other accessories
  • ❌ Damage caused by alcohol, drugs, or illegal driving
  • ❌ Damage caused by unauthorized drivers

🛡️Additional Insurance “Tires & Rims”

This add-on is separate from the included CDW and offers full coverage for:

  • Tires, rims, and windows
  • ✅ Charged daily (rate varies by car)
  • ✅ Easy to add with one click during booking
  • Zero liability for flat tires or scratched rims

In case of damage, you simply repair it at the nearest service center, keep the receipt, and we’ll refund you upon return.

For broken windows, a police report is required. Notify us immediately if you find the vehicle damaged.

🚗 What To Do in Case of an Accident

  1. Stay calm and make sure everyone is safe.
  2. Call the police and request an official accident report.

  4. Take photos of the damage and the scene.
  5. Do not leave the scene without a report—unless it is unsafe to remain.

📄 Documents Required in Case of Accident

  1. Police report
  2. Completed bilateral accident report (if applicable)
  3. Valid ID
  4. Driver’s license

📌 Important Information

  • Only authorized drivers listed in the contract are allowed to drive the vehicle.
  • Any violation of the contract or traffic laws voids the insurance.
  • In case of theft, keys and car documents must be returned. If you do not have them, insurance will not cover the loss. Always keep them with you!

What if I have an accident but don’t get a police report?
➡️ Insurance will not cover the damage—you’ll be fully responsible.

Do I have to pay if the accident wasn’t my fault?
➡️ No, as long as you provide a valid police report confirming that.

Can I add a second driver?
➡️ Yes, for an additional fee. The second driver must meet the rental requirements.

What if someone hits the car while it’s parked?
➡️ Call the police and get a report. Without one, insurance won’t cover the damage.

Can I drive outside Bulgaria?
➡️ Yes, but only to Greece and Romania, and only with our prior approval and additional fee.
➡️ Traveling to other countries without permission is a violation of the rental agreement.

What should I do if the car is stolen?
➡️ Contact the police and us immediately.
➡️ You must provide the police report and return the keys and documents. Without them, insurance is invalid.

What happens if I return the car with damage and haven’t reported an incident?
➡️ This will be treated as a contract violation. You’ll be charged the full cost of the damage.

What if damage is caused by something out of my control (e.g. falling tree, storm)?
➡️ This is covered—but only with an official report from the police, fire department, or other authority.

Who pays for roadside assistance?
➡️ If it’s due to a mechanical issue, we cover the cost.
➡️ If it’s caused by driver error (e.g. accident, wrong fuel), the renter covers it.

What if I put in the wrong fuel?
➡️ That’s considered driver error. All resulting costs and towing are your responsibility.
